Comparing Operating Costs Between Gas and Electrical Appliances

The solution to this interesting issue of whether gas is cheaper than electric depends on the cost of gas and electricity in your area. It varies widely from suggest to state, and even within states -- and even significantly throughout the year. We often lean on others to tell us the answer to this question, but the your best bet is by doing your own comparison. To create such a comparison you will want to grasp: The value of electricity in kWh, and the cost of gas per gallon. Typically gas will be cheaper to run. The use gas to make electricity so per unit of energy the gas will be cheaper. However if your gas oven is poorly insulated and door doesnt seal well then I guess you need to take this into account but as far as cheapness the gas will be cheaper. As a general rule, gas is cheaper for stovetop, and electrical is cheaper for oven baking.
